I have constructed the minimal example of such a complex and measured its quantum error-correcting properties,
using open source software I wrote (GitHub).
This research involves a compelling blend of the geometry of affine buildings, algebraic topology, group theory, and quantum computing.
I'm also interested in theoretical computer science. That project led to a side quest to identify a categorical framework for existing quantum error correcting constructions.

In 2023, I participated in the IPAM long program Mathematical and Computational Challenges in Quantum Computing.
With some collaborators from that group, I initiated construction of explicit examples of quantum Tanner codes.
That work has stalled out, but I know how to complete it.
In 2024, I was an Eddleman Quantum Institute Graduate Research Fellow, and I presented a poster at TQC.
In 2025, I am participating in the Simons Foundation MPS Workshop on Lean
    and eventually completing the PhD.

Homepage of Adam Marks

I'm a PhD candidate in mathematics at the University of California, Irvine. My advisor is Jesse Wolfson.

I started my doctoral research on high-dimensional Ramanujan expanders
and their application to quantum error correction.

Earlier in my career, I was a software engineer and entrepreneur. I co-founded Biba Systems, Inc., a startup that built a collaboration platform for enterprises, which was acquired by Amazon in 2015.
